starting at durham this year?
If so, chances are you're feeling both nervous and excited.
Please have a look round this entire website, which should (we hope!) give you an idea of what you can expect when you arrive here. But this section addresses a few of the things you might like to know more immediately.
the handbook
As in previous years, we're producing an LGBT student handbook. It contains all the most important information you'll ever need to know as an LGBT student at Durham University and in the North-East in one handy booklet which you can hang on to and read in your leisure, in private. Watch this space for how to get hold of a copy, information about which will be forthcoming soon.

freshers' fair
We will of course be present at DSU Freshers' Fair: your first opportunity to come and say hello to us, see what we look like in real life, and pick up lots of information. The fair this year takes place in Dunelm House from around 10.00am till around 4.00pm on Tuesday and Wednesday in Freshers' Week. We'll be in the Fonteyn Ballroom on the bottom floor of Dunelm House. If it still seems that bit too daunting to stride up to the LGBTA stall, our info will also be available on the main DSU Welfare stall in the Fonteyn Ballroom (Level E). We'll also be represented at the Freshers' Fair on the Queen's Campus. Full details of the Freshers' Fair are available on the Durham Students' Union (DSU) website.
We'll try to ensure we stay right till the very end of the fair, for if you'd rather wait till it's quiet before approaching us.
in the meantime...
You're more then welcome to join the chat on our message board before you arrive at Durham. It could be a great way of getting to know people and starting to feel settled before you even get here.
